The Makeup Manual

I finished reading/skimming/partially skipping through Bobbi Brown's  Makeup Manual: For Everyone From Beginner to Pro.  I liked it, perhaps not as much as I enjoyed her "Teen Beauty", but nevertheless, I would give it 3.5-4 stars out of 5.  She wasn't kidding about the "Beginner to Pro" part, because part of the book is completely dedicated to breaking in the the beauty industry: what should be in the professionals makeup kit, how to get your name out into the work through business cards, etc.  That's the bit I skipped/skimmed, because I have no intention of ever being a makeup artist, or being involved in the beauty world (I already watched my mother work in it for 7 years.)  As I mentioned yesterday, I LOVE the photos (as well as the pleasant font, and big captions), they're great, and crisp, bright, and sometimes fun.  I also learned some more definitions, and got some pretty good advice.  Oh, and about the "Asian Eye" bit, there is also a little snippet dedicated to "Asian Skin."  I've come to the conclusion that although a little disgruntled about having "Asian eyes" highlighted in the book, I actually find Bobbi Brown's words of wisdom much more valuable than my irrational irritation.  After all, it is true that Asians typically have rather different eyes than others, even if we try to change that (ahem, eye lid glue/tape ((and yes, I have some too, although I've never used it)), and eye lid surgeries), and we have our own "types" of skin (for which I blame my "post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation".)
