Ah, Sunday the 15th of February: the day after my very single Valentine's Day, which is a bit of a lie, because I spent the night with my almost brother. Anyhow, I went to see Confessions of a Shopaholic at the East Village Cinema, with my lovely friend Asim. I must say, it was rather enjoyable; I don't think I've laughed that much during a film since Ghost Town.
Starring Isla Fisher (whom I always thought was Amy Adams; they look uncannily alike), and Hugh Dancy, Confessions of a Shopaholic is a fashionable romantic comedy, mixed with a wannabe Devil Wears Prada. The movie, based off the 'Shopaholic" series, tells the story of Rebecca (Fisher), the shopaholic, and aspiring reporter, some how finds herself working at a financial magazine, with a dashing editor (Dancy.) Although initially successful at her new job, her life is still a mess, as she handles a certain debt collector, even with the support of her zany family. Through trials and fluctuations, the couple have, a predictable happy ending.
Adorable, bright, hilarious, and a bit ironic, Confessions is a fun flick, perfect with your girlfriends. The clothes all pop, as they were put together by Sex in the City stylist, Patricia Field. And those clothes look great on new-Mummy Isla, who was apparently breast-feeding while shooting. Hugh Dancy, ah, Claire Danes is a lucky gal; all the women (and probably a few men) were whispering about his good looks, and accent... As a New York native, I loved seeing the shots from around town! One of the flaws, was the moving and talking mannequins, which are rather night-mare wrenching.
